River Forest Police Reports: Theft, DUI, Traffic Warrant
The River Forest Police Department reported crimes and arrests through June 17.

River Forest, IL —
At 12:13 p.m. June 2, officers were sent to 7245 W. Lake St., Whole Foods Market, for a retail theft in progress. The offender was taken into custody and found to be in possession of $162 worth of liquor products. Andrew W. Martinec, 31 of Brookfield, was taken to the station and charged with retail theft.

At 2:54 a.m. June 4, an officer saw a car commit a traffic violation in the area of North Avenue and Harlem. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver showed signs of intoxication. The driver, Kevin L. Bassett, 29 of Chicago, failed field sobriety tests at the scene and was taken into custody. Bassett refused to take a Breathalyzer test at the station and was charged with DUI and other traffic violations.
At 6:54 p.m. June 7, officers were sent to 7251 W. Lake St., Walgreens, for a retail theft. The offender was found and a computer check showed the person, Erik R. Sutphin, 32 of Chicago, had an active arrest warrant for traffic offenses from the Will County Sheriff’s Department. Sutphin was taken into custody and then turned over to the Will County Sheriff’s Department. In lieu of lodging retail theft charges against Sutphin, Walgreens banned him from the store by issuing criminal trespass warnings.
