Sexual Assault Alleged After Hours at OPRF High School

District 200 plans to install more security cameras at the school.

Two students were involved in an alleged sexual assault the night of Dec. 9 inside Oak Park and River Forest High School.

District 200 and Oak Park police are investigating the incident, which is believed to be isolated.

Oak Park police told the Chicago Tribune the case involves a 16-year-old boy and an 18-year-old girl and a sexual act without the girl’s consent.

The district is considering enhancing security measures in light of the investigation, according to a statement. More security cameras will be installed during winter break throughout the building.

The district is also reviewing after-hours campus access.

“As we consider our practices in this regard, as well as other safety measures, our goal is to balance the high school’s role as a community asset with the need to do our utmost to ensure the safety of our students, staff, and visitors,” according to the statement.
