SUNDAY, SEP. 9

17-Year-Old Reported Missing

A 17-year-old girl named Sharnice Jones was reported missing from the 200 block of Cuyler at around 9:20 p.m., police said. Police described her as 5-foot, 10-inches tall and about 250 lbs, with black hair and brown eyes, and last seen wearing a brown jacket, white T-shirt, blue jeans, white socks and white gym shoes.

Arrest for Violating Restraining Order

Prentiss T. Harris, 31, of the 600 block of Garfield, Oak Park, was arrested at 7:50 p.m. on the 500 block of Humphrey and charged with violating an order of protection, police said. He was processed and held awaiting a bond hearing.

Bike and Faceplate Taken

An unknown person entered the backyard of a residence on the 0-100 block of Washington between 1:30 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. and stole a black BMX Mongoose bicycle, police said. The offender also entered the victim's Mercedes through an open window and took a black Pioneer stereo faceplate. The theft was valued at $250.

Woman Steals Body Wash and Backpacks

A pharmacy on the 300 block of Madison reported that an approximately 40-year-old woman removed several bottles of body wash and two school bags from a display shelf and left without paying at around 1:20 p.m., police said. The woman was described as being of thin build with a black-and-gray ponytail and wearing black/white shorts. The theft was valued at $164.

SATURDAY, SEP. 8

Fixtures Removed from Locked Empty House

Someone forced open a locked rear door of a vacant (in-rehab) home on the 1100 block of S. Ridgeland sometime between 5:00 p.m. and 8:55 p.m., damaging the door and frame, police said. The offender ripped metal light fixtures from the bathroom wall, removing them from the house. The stolen items were valued at $300.

FRIDAY, SEP. 7

Stickup on Washington Blvd.

A victim reported that while entering his building on the first block of Washington at 8:06 p.m., three males approached him from behind and pressed an object to his back, demanding money, police said. After giving them $120, the males fled on foot east on Washington. A witness reported that one of the three subjects was wearing at black hat and another was wearing a gray-striped shirt.

Arrest for Retail Theft and Assault

Leslie Barner, 41, of the 800 block of N. Waller, Chicago, was arrested at a grocery store on the 200 block of Lake at 8:20 p.m., police said. She was charged with felony retail theft, aggravated assault, obstructing identification and possession of drug paraphernalia. She had an active Oak Park warrant for retail theft. She was held for a bond hearing.

Fruitless Storage Locker Burglary

Someone entered a common laundry and storage area of a building on the 800 block of Washington by unknown means sometime between noon on Thursday and 7 p.m. Friday and pried open a locked storage locker, damaging the wooden frame. The offender or offenders ransacked the locker but took nothing.

Two Girls Reported Missing

A 14-year-old girl named Tia Sanderson was reported missing by her aunt from the 300 block of Maple sometime between 7:00 a.m. and 6:55 p.m., police said. She was described by police as 5-feet, 5-inches tall and 155 lbs with brown eyes and black hair in a French braid, last seen wearing a grey hoodie, hot-pink zebra-striped shirt and black pants, and carrying a black and white backpack.

A 15-year-old girl named Marianna Sanderson was reported missing by her foster mother from the 1000 block of S. Humphrey at around 6:15 p.m., police said. She was described by police as about 180 lbs with brown eyes, black hair and red braids, last seen wearing a grey T-shirt and black and pink pajama pants, and carrying a black backpack.

Police did not indicate if there was any connection between the two cases.

Arrest for Hiding Retail in Pants

Michael A. Backer, 50, of the 8500 block of W. Cermak, North Riverside, was charged with retail theft at 6:08 p.m. after grocery store security on the 200 block of Lake saw him hiding store items in his pants, police said.

Two Bikes Stolen by Cutting Padlocks

Someone stole a locked green 26-inch, 24-speed Schwinn Sidewinder mountain bike from the 700 block of South Austin sometime between 7:45 p.m. Thursday and 9:40 a.m. Friday by cutting the padlock with an unknown tool, police said. The theft was valued at $265.

Someone also stole a locked dark blue, 21-speed hybrid bicycle from a bike rack on the 1100 block of South by cutting the cable lock sometime between 5:00 p.m. on Thursday and 3:09 a.m. on Friday.

Various Stuff Stolen from Locker

Someone used a pry tool to gain entry to a common-area storage locker on the first block of Thomas around 11:09 a.m. and removed four video game systems, a vacuum cleaner and a purple girl's Huffy bike, police said. The theft was valued at $400.
