1. Five people were injured in a mass shooting in South Austin Sunday. Around 3 a.m., shooters opened fire at a group sitting on a porch in the 900 block of North Massasoit Avenue. No one is in custody for the crime, which left all five victims in serious condition. (CBS Chicago)
2. River Forest trustees voted to implement a new residential solar program in the village. Solar farm participants would “net a 20 percent discount from their annual Commonwealth Edison supply charges,” Robert J. Lifka reports. (Wednesday Journal)
3. Oak Park resident and DePaul University professor Andrea Kayne has penned and published a new book. “Kicking Ass in a Corset: Jane Austen’s 6 Principles for Leading and Living from the Inside Out” is out now, and Kayne says it was largely inspired by her time in Oak Park. 4. “Ordinary Joe” premieres tonight on NBC. The show filmed part of its pilot episode on the Dominican University quad in November 2020. (DU)
5. Cook County has unveiled a Racial Equity Action Plan to address “some of the largest racial inequality gaps in the nation.” County Board President Toni Preckwinkle detailed the plan on WBEZ in honor of Racial Equity Week. (WBEZ)
