Veteran Village Employee Named Interim Health Director

A veteran village employee has been named interim director of the Oak Park Department of Public Health, Village Manager Cara Pavlicek announced today.

Mike Charley, who joined the Health Department in 2003 as manager of the Environmental Services Division, steps into a position that had been vacant since Margaret Provost-Fyfe retired at the end of 2014 after 30 years with the Village.

“I am pleased to appoint Mike to this important role at the helm of the Health Department,” Pavlicek said. “His formal training and on-the-job experience have prepared him to assume the duties of Public Health Director while we complete this year’s budget process and consider conducting a formal, competitive search for candidates qualified to fill the position permanently.”
