1. The Oak Park Village Board could consider hiring an equity manager to help carry out its Racial Equity Action Plan. Assistant Village Manager Kira Tchang said the village’s equity goals were delayed by the pandemic, but suggested Monday that the board consider hiring a manager during its budget planning in October. 2. A string of thefts from residential garages continued in the latter half of August, according to the latest Oak Park Police Department report. Cash, credit cards, lawn tools, bicycles, generators and jumper cables were all reported stolen in various areas from Aug. 20-25. (OPPD)

3. A 51-year-old man was stabbed and killed inside his Forest Park apartment this weekend. The West Suburban Major Crimes Task Force will investigate the murder of Steven J. Pasko, who was found Aug. 29 at 37 Rockford Ave. (Forest Park Review)
4. Unity Temple will finally be able to celebrate its 2019 UNESCO designation after pandemic delays. The building was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site two years ago, “firmly cementing Unity Temple’s place among highly esteemed architectural sites around the world.” An honorary plaque will be unveiled Sept. 25. 5. The Chicagoland Jewish community is facing another year of pandemic-altered high holiday services as the delta variant of COVID-19 prevents groups from safely gathering indoors. According to the Jewish United Fund of Metropolitan Chicago, a majority of congregations are taking outdoor or virtual approaches to Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur in the coming weeks.
