1. Oak Park officials urged caution Thursday when an armed "individual in distress" barricaded himself inside an apartment in the 1100 block of North Harlem Avenue. The report was made around 11 a.m. and an area of Harlem was closed to traffic. As of 6 p.m. last night, first responders were still on the scene. (NBC)
2. Residents displaced by the Austin apartment building explosion last month can now receive low-interest loans from the U.S. Small Business Association. A temporary “Disaster Loan Outreach Center” is open at Town Hall Park through Oct. 20. (AWN)
3. Visit Oak Park President and CEO Eric Wagner announced he is leaving the role. The Board of Directors will undergo a “national search” for his replacement. (VOP)
