1. The Illinois House approved measures Friday to ban certain assault weapons and expand abortion rights in the state, the Tribune reports. Both measures are now set for the Senate. A spokesperson for Senate President Don Harmon of Oak Park said senators are “looking forward” to reviewing the proposals. (Paid source: Tribune)

2. Sixty-six cases of COVID-19 were reported in Oak Park this week, according to a health department report. More than 90 percent of residents have received at least their first dose of the vaccine. (VOP)
3. Oak Park and River Forest officials will not share the cost of removing an unused water tower near the Forest Park Green Line station. The CTA proposed that all three villages could pay for its removal. “River Forest has absolutely nothing to do with the tower itself, other than, in our mind, it is unsightly,” Village President Cathy Adduci said. “If Mayor [Rory] Hoskins wanted to get a grant from the state or somebody else, we would support his efforts.” (Review)
4. A French Mexican restaurant is coming to Lake Street, the Wednesday Journal reports. Crepas Culichi first opened in Berwyn in 2019 and is expanding to Oak Park this month. Owned by sisters Estefany and Yency Garcia, the restaurant's menu will feature cocktails, crepes and coffee. (Wednesday Journal)
