1. Vandals smashed the windows of two cars in Oak Park the night of Oct. 19. According to the police department, vehicles were targeted in the 1100 block of South Taylor and the 900 block of Pleasant Street. (VOP)

2. More than 20 Oak Park residents signed an open letter opposing a permit application for a “nuisance business” in their area. Neighbors in the 1150 block of South Lombard “strongly oppose” the permit for BM Customs LLC, which has contributed to issues with noise, traffic and lack of maintenance on the property at the corner of Lombard and Roosevelt. The Village Board tabled the permit vote at its Oct. 17 meeting. (Wednesday Journal)

3. Early voting begins today at Oak Park Village Hall. Weekday hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Election Day is Nov. 8. (VOP)

4. The Fenwick tennis team took home the school’s first-ever state championship title for the sport over the weekend. The varsity football team also won Friday, sending them to the IHSA playoffs against Morgan Park. (Paid source: Tribune)
