A woman who was housesitting in Oak Park was kidnapped late Sunday night by a man who is believed to be her former boyfriend.
Police are searching for Sherman Henderson, 31, who was seen forcing a woman, identified as Lindsay A. Bowman, 30, into a silver 2006 Dodge Magnum with Illinois license plate number K134 338, according to Oak Park police.
A witness called 911 around 11:50 p.m. Sunday to report the kidnapping in the 600 block of Forest Avenue in Oak Park. The witness said the car went southbound on Forest.
The car was last seen traveling westbound on North Avenue near Wolf Road in Northlake.
A River Forest police officer saw the car going westbound on Chicago Avenue, but the driver eluded the traffic stop.
Henderson’s last known address is 2900 W. Irving Park Road in Chicago, police reported, and Bowman’s residence has not yet been determined.
Police found the back door of the home where the woman was taken had been forced open.
Henderson has been arrested before for domestic battery and unlawful use of a weapon. He is described as 6 feet 4 inches tall and weighing 201 pounds, police reported. He is considered armed and dangerous.
The silver Dodge is registered to an acquaintance of Henderson. Henderson owns a white, 2011 Chevrolet Camaro with Illinois license plate number R995300.
