Smack & Pot Turn Up in Traffic Stop Search: Blotter
Orland Park police reports, March 17-18.

MONDAY, MARCH 18
Outstanding Warrant
Dovydas Pakalniskis, 20, of the 8900 block of 147th in Orland Park, was arrested on an outstanding warrant for failure to appear on a driving under the influence charge, according to a report. Pakalniskis’ vehicle was stopped at about 3:16 p.m. in the 15100 block of LaGrange Road for having tinted windows. Police found the outstanding warrant and arrested him.
Heroin and Marijuana
Nicholas A. Hughes, 22, of the 11600 block of Lavergne Avenue in Alsip, was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to a report. Police stopped Hughes’ Ford Crown Victoria at about 3:22 p.m. in the 13700 block of LaGrange Road. A check of the registration showed the owner was wanted on a warrant. The driver, Hughes, matched the description with the warrant. He was later found to be wanted on two warrants—one for failing to appear on a retail theft charge from Alsip and a second for possession of a controlled substance from Cook County. A search of his Crown Vic turned up a baggie with a substance that tested positive for marijuana, a syringe, a burn spoon and an empty Camel cigarette pack that had several baggies of what tested positive for heroin inside. The total amount of heroin was 1.2 grams. The marijuana weighed in at 9.6 grams. He was due in a downtown Cook County court on March 19.

SUNDAY, MARCH 17
Fake Credit Card
Christian J. Burks, 24, of the 3800 block of 216th Place in Matteson, was charged with altering a credit card, according to a report. She is accused of using a fake card with her name on it at about 5:15 p.m. when she tried to buy $100 Graziana wedge shoes and a $40 Meerut purse at Aldo, 628 Orland Square Dr. The clerk suspected the card might be fraudulent and called the 800 number on the card to confirm. Burks told police she was church that day and got the card from her boyfriend. She didn’t know if was fake. Attempts to contact the real account holder were unsuccessful. Burks was due in Bridgeview court on March 19.

Retail Theft at Macy's
Karla Acevado, 30, of the 8300 block of Kedvale Avenue in Chicago, was charged with retail theft, according to a report. She is accused of taking items totaling $192 in value at about 6:42 p.m. from Macy’s, 1 Orland Square Dr. Acevado reportedly hid them in her diaper bag after trying on several more items in the changing room. She is due in Bridgeview court on April 12.
DUI Charge for Tinley Park Man
Michael P. McKillip, 29, of the 17400 block of 71st Avenue in Tinley Park, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, DUI with a blood-alcohol level greater than 0.08, driving without a license on his person and improper lane use, according to a report. Police stopped McKillip’s gray Ford after it was seen crossing the lane lines at about 10:28 p.m. near the intersection of 143rd Street and LaGrange Road. An officer reported smelling a strong odor of alcohol. McKillip was asked to perform field sobriety tests, which he failed. He also admitted to having one beer. McKillip is due in Bridgeview court on May 7.
