Loudmouthed Drug Dealer Blabbed About Selling Xanax in Front of Off-Duty Cop: Police

The drug dealer was talking on his phone in a health club sauna, police said.

A loudmouthed drug dealer blabbed about selling Xanax in front of an off-duty cop at an Orland Park health club, police said.

The off-duty officer called some colleagues and told them he was working out at Life Time Fitness when he “overheard a subject talking loudly on his phone in the sauna,” police said.

The man in the sauna, who was wearing a red hat, white tank top and white shorts, was “discussing prices for ‘Xanies,’” which is a “street name for an anti-anxiety drug, Xanax,” police said.

The man in the red hat was “arguing prices for Xanies to the person on the other line,” police said. “He stated ’35 for 100?’” and “’40 for 100?’ and repeated it multiple times. (He) advised his friend to text someone and tell her he had ‘2 mg bars for $6.50 each” and then said, “Nah, f--- it, she can pay $6 each.’”

The working police reportedly showed up at the health club and met with the off-duty cop, who pointed out the alleged drug dealer, 28-year-old Steve Bader of Chicago. The officers then waited outside and watched as Bader left Life Time Fitness, climbed into a Cadillac STS with a cracked windshield and drove away, police said.

The cops reportedly tailed Bader and pulled him over for the windshield.

“Steve advised his windshield broke when his ex-girlfriend threw a phone at it,” police said.

Bader reportedly allowed the cops to search his car and they found a spring-loaded knife in the center console, 14 full bars of Xanax and 41 partial bars. Bader also allegedly had $5,765 in a knapsack.

“In summary, Steve advised that he gets Xanax from an ‘old lady’ who has more pills than she needs and sells them to him,” police said. “He advised that he buys 35 pills for $100. He then verbally advised that he ‘sometimes sells Xanax to his friends or girls.’”

Bader was jailed on charges of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and the unlawful use of a weapon.
