The fire personnel were recognized at Tuesday's Orland Fire Protection District board meeting.
Nine Orland Fire Protection District firefighters were recognized Tuesday for serving at least two decades with the district.
Battalion Chief William Bonnar Jr., Lt. Michael Copple and Lt. William Leddin were recognized for 35 years of service.
Firefighter Terry Campagne, Lt. Michael Srncik and engineers Edward Dunne, Pamela Exline, Joseph Mandekich and Robert Murphy III were honored for 25 years of service.
"You have good days and bad days, but as long as you love it, you can do this a long time," Bonnar said. "I still love it after all these years."
Leddin said doing the job requires serious passion.
"You need to be compassionate," Leddin said. "You're meeting people going through their worst experiences, but you can help make it better."
