Orland Hills Home Uninhabitable After Fire Sparks In Basement Outlet
The homeowners evacuated and were not injured in the Tuesday night fire.

ORLAND HILLS, IL — Homeowners escaped uninjured after a fire started in an outlet in the basement of an Orland Hills home Tuesday night.
Orland firefighters were called Tuesday just before 8 p.m. to a home in the 9100 block of 161st Place for a fire in a basement. Battalion 6 on the scene found smoke coming from an outlet. Firefighters found light smoke in the basement, and found that the fire had spread into the wall and ceiling cavities.
The response was quickly upgraded, and crews made an aggressive interior fire attack, extinguishing the fire, which had been confined to the basement.

The home is currently uninhabitable, and Orland Hills officials worked to provide temporary housing arrangements for the family.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by Orland Fire Protection District cause and arson investigators.
