ORLAND PARK, IL — GameStop stores in Orland Park and Tinley Park will soon shutter—one within just days—staff confirmed, the locations among the latest in another batch of closings for the video game and electronics retailer.

The last day for Tinley Park's location (16205 S Harlem Ave., Suite D) will be Wednesday, Jan. 7. The Orland Park location, 15864 LaGrange Road, will remain open through end of business Wednesday, Jan. 14.

Customers have been met with signage on the businesses' doors announcing the closures, in addition to emails sent to subscribers.

"Thanks for all the awesome memories!" reads an email sent to an Orland Park location customer. "Swing by for one last hurrah or ask about the status of your in-store pre-orders and PSA submissions."

Customers and staff only recently learned of the stores' fate.

"It is a shame to lose them," said longtime Orland Park GameStop customer David Scholl. "There has been a GameStop in Orland for as long as I can remember, the people who work there and have worked there over the last couple of years were a big part of the store's appeal and a huge reason why I chose to continue to shop there!"

In Tinley Park, an employee said they were given just five days' notice, with "nothing as of real context" to the store being among those in this round of closings.

The Orland Park and Tinley Park locations were both hit in smash-and-grab burglaries in September 2025; a car was used to ram the storefronts to gain access to the merchandise.

The global retailer—known for sales of new & used video games, plus consoles, controllers & related gear—also was an authorized PSA dealer. Professional Sports Authenticator is a leading third-party service that grades trading cards and video games for authenticity and condition, encapsulating them in protective cases.

After closing 1,000 stores across the world in 2024, GameStop in March 2025 said it wasn't done. The company last spring said it still expected to close a significant number of additional stores and looked to invest cash in cryptocurrencies, according to Business Insider. A majority of its worldwide closures were announced in the U.S., with 590 locations shutting down in 2025.

The closings in early 2026 also include locations in New Lenox, Schaumburg, and Munster, Indiana, among those noted to store staff.

In Orland Park, any pre-orders or PSA submissions will be transferred to the Chicago Ridge store, Chicago Ridge Mall Ste. F11. Employees at the Tinley Park store were not certain of that information, but they can be reached at 708-342-0481 for more information.

In New Lenox, pre-orders and PSA submissions will go to the Olympia Fields store, 2520 Lincoln Hwy STE D.
