Orland PD Giving Out Steering Wheel Locks For Kia Owners
The steering wheel locks are to help prevent theft of Kia vehicles during a trend in thefts.
ORLAND PARK, IL — Orland Park police will be giving away Kia steering wheel locks for Orland Park residents at the Orland Park Police station, 15100 S. Ravinia Ave.
Due to increased thefts of Kia vehicles, the automaker is working with the police department to give away wheel locks to residents beginning Wednesday, March 8.
Residents must show an I.D. with an Orland Park address for proof of residency and a valid Kia vehicle registration in order to be eligible for a wheel lock. Please come to the police station Monday-Friday, between the hours of 8:00am and 4:00pm, to receive your wheel lock.

The wheel locks are in limited supply and will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.
“Orland Park residents who are Kia owners who have vehicles with key ignitions should stop by to pick up a wheel lock to help prevent their car from being targeted,” said Orland Park Police Sergeant Rich Whalen. “It’s a simple step that Kia owners can take to deter would-be thieves from driving off with their cars and possibly using the vehicle as a tool to commit further crimes.”
