Woman, 49, Struck By Car, Critically Injured: Orland Police
The woman was hit while crossing 159th Street Thursday night, police said.
ORLAND PARK, IL — A 49-year-old woman was critically injured after being struck by a car while crossing 159th Street late Thursday night, Orland Park police said Friday.
The woman was crossing 159th Street near 94th Avenue when she was struck by a minivan driven by a 39-year-old man, Orland Park Police said.
Police said rainy conditions caused low visibility at the time of the crash. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with police. Reports that the incident was a hit-and-run are inaccurate, police said.

The woman suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken by Orland Fire Protection District paramedics to Advocate Christ Medical Center. She remains in critical condition Friday.
The driver was also taken to a nearby hospital in accordance with protocol, officials said.

The road was closed for several hours while police investigated, opening again in the early morning hours.
