Piece Of Cake: Orland Police Tackle, Arrest Felon With Illegal Gun

Devyn Hood, of Chicago, had come out of Dave and Buster's with a cake and dropped it off in his trunk, when police confronted him.

ORLAND PARK, IL — A Chicago man and convicted felon faces a gun charge and one for resisting a peace officer, after an encounter with Orland Park police March 30.

Devyn Hood, 36, was arrested outside Dave and Buster's, after police found a loaded Smith & Wesson in the passenger seat of his Dodge Challenger. Plainclothes officers in an unmarked car spotted the gun and an ID inside, ran a registration check on the car and learned its owner did not have a valid firearm owners ID card (FOID) or concealed carry license. Police also spotted a blunt in an ashtray.

Police waited for the owner to come to the car, and watched as the man—later determined to be Hood—put the cake he was carrying in the trunk and turned to go back inside.
