Suspects Shoot At Owner In Interrupted Car Burglary: Orland PD
The owner awoke to suspects trying to get into his vehicles, police said. He approached them, and they fired at him.
ORLAND PARK, IL — The owner of vehicles that were targeted in car burglaries Monday was uninjured, after the suspects shot at him when they were caught in the act.
Orland Park police were called early Monday to the 8600 block of 170th Street in the Fernway subdivision, after a resident awoke to suspects on his property trying to get into his vehicles, police said. The resident called to the suspects from the doorway; the suspects then "fired multiple gunshots" at the resident, missing him, police said.
The suspects fled the scene in a dark-colored sport utility vehicle, and are no longer in the region, police said. Prior incidents have been reported to have taken place in Mokena and Tinley Park involving who authorities believe to be the same suspects, leading investigators to believe the crew is making its way through the region committing similar crimes. A collaborative investigation is underway.
