19 Seat Belt Citations Issued During Labor Day: Oswego Police
In addition, two speeding citations, one car seat citation, and four distracted-driving related citations were also issued.
OSWEGO, IL — The Oswego Police Department issued 19 seat belt citations, two speeding citations, one car seat citation, and four distracted-driving related citations during a Labor Day enforcement campaign to increase safety on local and Illinois roads, according to a Friday press release.
Police said 12 of the aforementioned seat-belt citations were issued during the night. Village police had joined forces with enforcement agencies and highway safety partners throughout the state for the enforcement effort.
The statewide Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over and Click It or Ticket campaigns are made possible by federal highway safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation.

Police said that nationally in 2018, a total of 10,511 people were killed in drunk driving crashes, making up nearly one-third of all traffic fatalities that year. More than 10,000 people have died as a result of impaired driving each of the last four years in the country.
Police also said that wearing a properly adjusted and fastened seat belt remains one of the best ways to insure safe vehicle travel.
