51 Tickets Result From Oswego Memorial Day Enforcement

Oswego officers took to the streets to enforce traffic safety laws for a more than a week leading up to and on Memorial Day.

OSWEGO, IL — Oswego Police Department's Memorial Day enforcement campaign yielded a total of 51 citations, officials said Wednesday.

The "Click It or Ticket" effort, paid for by highway safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation, lasted through May 27.

Oswego police issued the following tickets:

  • 44 for seat belt violations
  • 5 for distracted driving
  • 1 for a stop sign or traffic signal violation
  • 1 for driving uninsured

Officers also made three arrests pertaining to driver's license issues.

"Through the Memorial Day enforcement campaign, we helped make Illinois roads safer and spread the word that seat belts and child safety restraints save lives," public information officer Cathy Nevara said in a statement.
