Oswego Man Forced His Way Into Sandwich Home, Beat Woman: Police

The Oswego man was charged with home invasion, aggravated domestic battery and criminal trespass to a residence, officials said.

OSWEGO, IL — An Oswego man was taken into custody in connection with a home invasion and domestic battery Dec. 7 in the 600 block of North Ash Street, Sandwich police said.

Samuel Miller, 32, is accused of forcing his way into the residence and beating a woman, according to police.

Officers were dispatched at 6:13 a.m. to investigate a "domestic disturbance" after the caller reported that a woman, who had visible injuries, was attempting to get help from neighbors, telling them she had been beaten, Sandwich police said in a news release.

Witnesses also saw a "verbal disturbance" between the victim and a man, who then left the area in a white Ford pickup truck, police said.

Officers checked the residence and saw signs of forced entry, suspected blood and "personal items" that belonged to a woman. The victim wasn't at home.

Police identified the suspect as Miller and issued a statewide broadcast to find him and the victim. Officers "eventually located the victim," though it is unclear when or where.

U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force members found Miller Dec. 10 at his Oswego residence and took him into custody without incident.

The DeKalb County State's Attorney's Office approved felony charges of home invasion, aggravated domestic battery and criminal trespassing to a residence against Miller. Additional charges are pending, police said.

The home invasion remains under investigation.
