Allied First Bank Community Gardens Donations Total 442 Pounds

The first year of the Allied First Bank community garden was an overwhelming success !  We are pleased to announce that our gardeners donated 442 pounds of produce to the Kendall County Food Pantry during the course of the year.  We would like to thank all of our Community Gardeners, Garden Faire LLC, Boy Scouts from Troops 63, 31 and 265, and Cub Scouts from Den 4 - Pack 633.

The bank opened the Community Garden this year, giving its customers and community groups the opportunity to grow product for themselves and for charity utilizing the Plant a Row program.  The garden has been maintained and grown using only organic gardening methods.

Nationwide, in 2010, the Plant a Row Program donated over a million pounds of fresh produce directly into the hands of those in need.  The produce donated by local gardeners was be tallied by weight, and donated to local families facing hunger issues through the Kendall County Food Pantry.
