Effective Nov. 15, changes were made to Village Ordinance 8-7-11 which regulates the water termination posting procedures. The Village of Oswego Public Works Department will no longer hand deliver the orange “Final Notice” prior to water shut-offs.
The new procedures are as follows: 1 day after the utility bill is due, a penalty of an additional 10% will be added to the delinquent account; 15 days after that, if the bill is still not paid, a termination letter will be mailed; if the bill is still not paid within another 7 - 10 days, water service will be terminated and an additional $50 penalty fee will be assessed for first-time offender.
Second-time offenders will receive at $75 penalty fee, third-time offenders and all after that will receive a $100 penalty fee assessed to the water bill account.
