Courthouse Employees Raise Breast Cancer Awareness

Last Friday, Eric Weis, State’s Attorney and Becky Morganegg, Circuit Clerk, along with several other employees from the Kendall County Courthouse wore pink to raise awareness for breast cancer research.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  Almost everyone who participated in the event has been directly or indirectly affected by breast cancer.  Weis, whose wife and mother are both breast cancer survivors, wore pink to court to show his support.

“Having seen firsthand how this terrible disease can affect a family, I want to do what I can to increase awareness for this as well as other types of cancer.  Since my wife was first diagnosed with this disease, I am amazed by the number of people who deal with it everyday.  Research is the best way to defeat breast cancer.  Anything that we can do to raise awareness, including me wearing a pink shirt, is well worth it.”

Morganegg, who is also a breast cancer survivor, commented on the need for continued awareness to someday find a cure.

“As a breast cancer survivor, I appreciate the support shown by the employees of the Kendall County Courthouse to raise awareness for breast cancer research.  My wish is that someday a cure will be found so women will no longer be faced with this terrible disease.”
