Dorothy Funk White Passes

Dorothy Funk White, age 88, of Prestbury Subdivision in Sugar Grove, IL., passed away on February 4th at her home.

She was born May 18, 1923, in Aurora, IL, the daughter of the late Herbert and Margaret Grimm Funk.After graduating from West Aurora High School in 1941, she went on to receive her nursing degree from Northwestern School of Nursing in Evanston, IL.

Her career as a Registered Nurse took her to a paper mill in Ocanto Falls, WI, to Green Bay, WI, to Mitre Corp in Washington DC and eventually back to Aurora where she worked as a county nurse until her retirement. From her early childhood, Dorothy enjoyed spending every summer with family and friends at the family's summer cottage at Kelly Lake in Suring, WI.

She truly loved the beauty of the lake and all the life long friendships she made. Fondly known as "D' Bell", her big smile and positive outlook will be missed by so many. 

Preceded in death by her husband Robert Allen White in 2011, brother Herbert E Funk in 2005 and nephew James Funk.

Dorothy is survived by her brother Henry Grimm Funk of St. Charles, IL, sister in law Sally (Herbert) Funk of Sugar Grove, IL; nieces/nephews; Kimberly Ann Funk of Batavia, IL, Thomas Henry Funk of Montgomery, IL, Karen Sue (Jim) McMahon of Dellwood, MN, William Grimm Funk of St. Charles, IL., Linna (Craig) Place of Kansas, MO. and several great nieces and nephews. Special thanks to Eugenia Kwiecinska for her devotion and years of loving care.

A memorial service will be conducted by Rev Gary McCann on Saturday, March 10, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the New England Congregational Church 406 West Galena Blvd Aurora, IL. Following the service there will be a time for family and friends to gather. Memorials may be directed to the Delnor Wellness Center (Swimming Program) 296 Randall Rd Geneva, IL 60134. Arrangements were entrusted to DUNN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME with CREMATORY 1801 South Douglas Rd Oswego, IL.
