Hunt Club Second-Graders Read to Feed

The second  grade students in Mrs. Barboza's and Miss Llamas' classes at have been busy reading books for fun and at the same time helping to end world hunger through Heifer International's Read to Feed program. The sponsored program helps students raise money for Heifer to provide livestock, seeds, trees and training to families in need around the world.

Our students obtained pledges of nickels, dimes and quarters for every book that they read in the months of November and December. At the end of the program the children gathered all their pledges. Mrs. Barboza's Class and Miss' Llamas' class raised a total of $510.06, enough to purchase four goats.  Our students were very proud of surpassing their goal, which was to raise $240. Our classes learned a valuable lesson that even they can make a difference in the world. All of Hunt Club Elementary is proud of the students and we wanted to share this accomplishment with the Oswego Community.
