
LaVerne Weber, age 79, of Oswego, died Monday, July 23, 2012 at Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora, after a brief illness. He was born August 13, 1932 in Leland, the son of the late LaVerne and Althea M. (nee Passow) Weber.
LaVerne graduated from Somonauk High School, class of 1950. He served his country honorably from 1952 to 1954 during the Korean Conflict in the US Army, attaining the rank of Cpl. He was a member of Carpenters Union Local #916 of Aurora, former member of the Tigers Club and Phoenix Club, and was also a member of the Lucky 50 Fishing Club, Senior Services of Yorkville and the Montgomery Memorial VFW Post 7452, where he participated in the funeral honor guard and commanded the color guard for many years saluting his deceased fellow veterans. For the last four years he was the Post Commander. LaVerne also served as scout master for the Oswego Boy Scout Troup 63 during the 1970’s and was involved with the YMCA Indian Guides with his sons. He worked as a carpenter for many years, retiring in 1994. He loved to go fishing, hunting and spending time with his family, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Barbara A. (nee Fisher) whom he married on December 31, 1955 in Sandwich, IL, a daughter Beth Barringer of Sandwich, IL, four sons Alan (Sue) Weber of Madison, AL, Terry Weber of Montgomery, IL, Mark (Debbie) Weber of Oswego, IL, Matt (Jane) Weber of Ottawa, IL, eleven grandchildren Janell (Mike) Fasso, Jamie (Bryce) Jacobs and Jessica Barringer, Eric (Heather) Weber, Jackie (Kenneth) Van Roekel, Leah (Jake) Evans, Ben (Syntyche), Matt, Kelly and Luke Weber, Lisa (Jason) Fowler, Great Grandchildren, Sadie and Seth Van Roekel, Ava, Brennon and Cadie Evans, Liam Fowler, Emma and Tessa Jacobs, Mia Barringer and Alex Fasso, one Sister Virginia Weber of Somonauk, IL, Brothers-In-Law Virgil Lippold, Robert (Karen) Fisher, niece Patricia Lippold all of Yorkille, IL, Nephews Bill Lippold of Morris, IL and Wade Fisher of Sheridan, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son Jimmy Weber, and his sister Shirley (Weber) Lippold and a nephew Paul Lippold.

Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 28, at , 1801 S. Douglas Road, Oswego. Chaplain Delmar Gerth officiating. Visitation will take place at the funeral home from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday, July 27. Burial with Military Honors will be at Oak Ridge Cemetery, Suydam Road, Sandwich, IL.
Pallbearers will be Eric, Ben and Luke Weber, Wade Fisher, Lyell and Jim Bowen. Honorary Pallbearer Matt Weber.
