Local Quartets Deliver “Love” on Valentine’s Day

A quartet of four men appearing out of nowhere to sing a love song to one special person can be a romantic and memorable gift. That is what members of the Chorus of DuPage, a local men’s barbershop chorus, will do this Valentine’s Day. They will say “I love you” in song and hope to leave lucky recipients speechless.

On Thursday, February 14, several Chorus of DuPage barbershop quartets will fan out across Chicago’s western suburbs to deliver Singing Valentines to special sweethearts.Their love songs will ring out in offices, restaurants, schools and homes throughout the area. They often draw a crowd of onlookers, many smiles and sometimes a few tears.

A basic Singing Valentine costs $40 ($50 for a specific 2-4 hour window) and includes two songs sung in four-part barbershop harmony, a card and a rose. Men and woman alike are on the receiving end with moving results.
