The Oswego High School girls bowling team brought their 9th and 10th-graders to compete in the annual Plainfield North Frosh-Soph Tournament Jan. 16.
The team had a great morning round, rolling games of 903, 920, and 843 on their way to a morning total of 2,666 which was good for a spot in 2nd place, trailing Minooka by just 30 pins going into the lunch break. A good part of Oswego's solid morning came from a 614 series by Jessica Mendez and a 602 series from Cheyanne Valdez. Also contributing in the morning for the Panthers were Ashley Jourdan (515), Trashaunna Manning (503), Kyler Ditmars (300 in two games), and Kayla Williams (132 in one game).
The afternoon round started off with the Panther's low game of the tournament in game 4, and although the team held their 2nd place position, Minooka pulled ahead by over 100 pins. Minooka was consistent for the rest of the tournament, and it became a battle for 2nd place between Oswego, Lockport, and Joliet West. Valdez led the Panthers with a 570 afternoon series and finished 4th individually in the tournament with 195 average, which gave OHS just enough of a boost to maintain 2nd place, finishing just 18 pins ahead of Lockport.
