Oswego Police Detail Graduation Parking, Traffic Routes

The following announcement was provided by the Oswego Police Department.

In an effort to alleviate some of the traffic congestion problems that have occurred in past years, , in conjunction with the will be instituting a new traffic plan this year for the Oswego East High School graduation.

The parking lot to the High School will be opened at 7 a.m. on Saturday. Only vehicles with an Oswego East High School Graduation parking hanger will be allowed to park in the lot. Graduation parking hangers are issued to each graduate, and all vehicles without a parking hanger will be denied admittance.

All other vehicles must park in the over-flow lots located at Bednarcik Junior High or , each located either east or west of the High School off of Wolf Road. Shuttles to and from Oswego East High School from these parking lots will begin running at 7:30 a.m.

There will also be a new traffic plan for the graduation.  Graduates will have a Grad Placard with a map indicating the route into the South parking lot where only graduates will be able to park.  There will be NO ENTRY into the south parking lot on Route 71.  Vehicles will be routed to Stonehill or Plainfield roads.

All other vehicles will be allowed to park in the north parking lot via Route 71.  Those visitors needing handicapped parking are asked to arrive early, as handicapped parking is limited.  All other vehicles may park on the north lot.  Drop offs will be allowed into the north parking lot after the parking lot is full. 

Eastview Elementary will be used as an overflow parking lot.  Access to that parking lot can be gained through Route 71 or through the rear of the school via Franklin or Garfield streets. 

 At the conclusion of graduation, vehicles exiting Eastview Elementary and Oswego High School will be routed northbound Route 71.
