
The Lady Pirates had an exciting week of tournament basketball. Here is a summary of the hard fought fourth place finish for our eighth grade team!
The 8th grade Lady Pirates began on Monday, March 5th with a rematch against Sandwich in the first round of the conference tournament. The girls won 25-22. The girls came ready to play and played aggressively on both ends of the floor. Danielle Gladysz led all scorers with 10 points and 7 steals. Alexis Davis added with 9 points and 7 rebounds.
After this exciting win, the 8th graders took on Yorkville in the second round of the conference tournament. The girls played a tough team and lost 40-15. The Lady Pirates started off slow but showed their heart in the second half. Alexis Davis scored 11 points and had 7 steals. Elizabeth Rinehart had 9 rebounds.

Finally, the 8th grade Lady Pirates took on Kaneland on Thursday, March 8th in the 3rd place game of the conference tournament. The girls played their hearts out for 4 quarters but lost 43-21. Alexis Davis had 13 points, 5 rebounds, 6 steals, and 2 blocks.

7th Grade Plank Girls Basketball
The 7th grade Plank Girls Basketball Team finished an exciting season with a third place finish in the Prairie Conference Tournament! Here is a summary of the hard fought third place finish for our seventh grade team!
In their first conference tournament game, the 7th grade girls basketball team took on Traughber. Plank started off hot in the first quarter with a 7 - 0 lead, all scored by Jasmine Ruiz. After that the girls cooled off and by mid 4th quarter Traughber was back in the game. Plank poured it on for the last 3 minutes including a big 3 pointer by Ruiz, a bucket by Emily Green, and good free throw shooting by Maya Taylor, Camryn Smiley, and Taylor Peck. Plank also played great defense to hold Traughber to 7 points and won by a final of 20 - 7.
Plank's 7th grade basektball team played Kaneland the following night in a close game. The Pirates were down 1 going into halftime. Tough defense kept the girls in it the whole way but foul trouble and poor free throw shooting led to a Plank loss. Kailey Johnson led the team with 9 points, Taylor Peck added 6 points. Maya Taylor had a outstanding game grabbing ten rebounds and several steals. Jasmine Ruiz had 4 blocked shots and great defense. Alexis Henz and Camryn Smiley played great also.
Finally, on Thursday, March 8th, the 7th grade Lady Pirates traveled to Yorkville to play in the Conference Tournament for 3rd place. The pirates out played the Yorkville Foxes 28-21 in a close, intense game. Maya Taylor put up 2 points, 3 rebounds and 2 steals, while Taylor Peck finished the night with 6 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 steals. Contributing to the night’s win also included Jasmine Ruiz with 7 points, 10 rebounds, and 3 steals and her teammate Kailey Johnson with 13 points and 5 rebounds. The Pirates were victorious and brought home the 3rd place trophy! Great job to all of the Lady Pirates. Way to finish out the season!
