PLANK 8TH GRADE GIRLS WEEK OF 1/23 – 1/27
Plank Jr. High would like to introduce the 2012 8th grade Lady Pirates basketball team. The 2012 team members are Danielle Gladysz, Abby Glasgow, Julia Gall, Mallory Weisbrodt, Elizabeth Rinehart, Haley Delgado, Jessica Eberly, Desiree Griseta, Jenna Coglan, Deana Pieters, Ileana Ascencio, Alexis Davis, Victoria Lockhart, Karla Padilla, and manager Juvia Davis.

Last week the Lady Pirates traveled to Thompson to open their season. In the A game, the Lady Pirates won 34-12. The girls played pressure defense creating 16 steals. Deana Pieters led the way with 17 points and Alexis Davis pitched in with 9 points.
In the B game, the Lady Pirates lost 22-10. Last Thursday the Lady Pirates took on Yorkville at home last night. In the A game, the girls lost 45-9. Danielle Gladysz led all scorers with 5 points. In the B game, the girls lost a thriller 22-19. Haley Delgado led all scorers with 6 points.

PLANK 7TH GRADE GIRLS WEEK OF 1/23 – 1/27
Plank Jr. High would like to introduce the 2012 7th grade Lady Pirates basketball team. The 2012 team members are Sarah Cardenas, Anne Carmody, Jimmyra Fair, Emily Green, Alexis Henz, Amanda Hoffman, Kailey Johnson, Madison Lambert, Tatyana Malone, Hannah Menter, Taylor Peck, Jasmine Ruiz, Anna Siragusa, Camryn Smiley, and Maya Taylor.
Last week, the 7th grade girls basketball team played Yorkville and Thompson. Against Yorkville, the A team started well and took a 1 point lead into half time but struggled through the 3rd and 4th quarter. The girls ended up losing 32 - 26. The B game was a close battle. Plank led throughout the game and held on to win 14 - 12.
Earlier in the week, the 7th grade girls basketball team played in their first game against the Thompson Tigers. The A team played a good first half but found themselves tied 14 - 14. Then the girls stepped up their game in the second half and dominated. Kailey Johnson led the team in scoring with 14 points and the Lady Pirates went on to win 31 - 21.
The B game was owned by Plank the whole way. The girls played 4 strong quarters with great defense and won 17 - 13. Annie Carmody led the team with 6 points. Sarah Cardenas contributed with 4 points and 5 rebounds.
