
Plank Cheerleading Squad
The Plank Junior High Cheerleading Squad is excited to announce their participation in the ICCA State Cheerleading Competition for junior highs!
Plank is one of only ten state cheerleading programs at the junior high level to participate in this prestigious event. The competition will occur on Sunday, February 12th at the Prairie Capitol Convention Center in Springfield, IL. Plank will compete in the Large Junior High division.

Plank’s Cheerleaders are: Sade Akinfe, Jessica Banks, Taylor Cassian, Maddie Colwell, Morgan Ehrhart, Emily Klick, Samantha Kuk, Brianna Lisner, Emma McCall, Hailey McMillan, Amanda Osman, Alecia Sahatdjian, Karissa Sampson, Ashtyn Skalicky, Megan Snyder, and Alena Torres. Coaches Kendal Burgoyne and Elizabeth Kaskie, as well as many parent volunteers and junior coaches, continue to work diligently with the cheerleading squad in anticipation of this weekend’s event.
Plank Junior High School is extremely proud of the commitment and excellence of our cheerleading squad and we wish all members a great experience this weekend in Springfield. Go Pirates!!!

8th Grade Lady Pirates Basketball Summary
On Monday, January 30th, the 8th grade Lady Pirates hit the road last to take on Plano. In the A game, the girls won 30-22. Alexis Davis had a huge night with 12 points and 7 steals. Deana Pieters had 6 points, while Elizabeth Rinehart had 6 points and 8 rebounds.
In the B game, the girls lost 18 -14. Jenna Coglan led all players with 4 points and 6 rebounds. The following evening, the 8th grade Lady Pirates took on Traughber. In the A game, the girls lost a hard fought battle, 14-13. In the B game, the girls won 21-9.
Wrapping up the week, the 8th grade Lady Pirates faced Sandwich on Thursday, February 2. In the A game, the girls won 17-16. Alexis Davis had 7 points and Deana Pieters had 6 points. Elizabeth Rinehart controlled the glass with 14 rebounds. In the B game, the girls lost 20-9.
The 8th grade girls continue to work hard and look forward to upcoming competitions against Yorkville and Plano.
7th Grade Lady Pirates Basketball Summary
On Monday, January 30th, the 7th grade Lady Pirates played against Plano and started their week off on a great note.
Excellent defense and full court pressure put Plank up early. Jasmine Ruiz had 8 steals contributing to fast break points by Taylor Peck who took control of the court with 20 points. Plank won the A game 26-6.
The B game went in similar fashion. Great defense dominated the game along with excellent passing and teamwork. Madison Lambert and Hannah Menter helped lead the team to their 22-6 win. Both girls had 6 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 steals.
The following night, the 7th grade Lady Pirates played against Traughber. The A team won 27-17. Kailey Johnson led the team in all categories with 16 points, 7 rebounds, and 7 steals. The B team fought a hard second half and came back to win 12 - 8. Anna Siragusa and Camryn Smiley led the team with 4 points each.
Concluding the week of competition, the 7th grade girls basketball team improved their record to 4-1 with another win. The A team controlled the game from start to finish. Kailey Johnson led scorers with 13 points. Jasmine Ruiz had 9 points 7 rebounds and 10 steals, while Taylor Peck added 6 points. Amanda Hoffman and Jimmyra Fair contributed with great defense and rebounding.
The A team won 28-13. The B team played well also and came home with a 18-12 victory. Maya Taylor scored 8 points, Camryn Smiley added 4 points, and Annie Carmody grabbed 6 rebounds.
