Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Available

The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program will be offered in the Village of Oswego. The Oswego Village Hall and the Oswego Senior Center will both be offering free tax return preparation for seniors and individuals with low to moderate income ($49,000 and below). 

Trained volunteers will help with special credits, such as earned income tax credit, child tax credit and credit for the elderly and disabled.

The Village Hall site, located at 100 Parkers Mill, will be open on Saturdays from January 28, 2012 until April 14, 2012, from 8 a.m. – Noon. Appointments are suggested and can be made by calling 630-554-3618.

The Oswego Senior Center site, located at 156 E. Washington St, will be open on Mondays from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. beginning February 6th through April 9th. Appointments for the Oswego Senior Center can be made by calling 630-554-5602. 

Individuals wishing to utilize the VITA program must bring the following items: 

  • All 2011 W-2 and 1099 forms
  • Information for other income
  • Copy of Property Tax Bill paid in 2011
  • Social Security Cards or Individual Taxpayer Identification notices/cards for you, your spouse, and/or all dependents.
  • Copy of 2010 tax return
  • Photo identification for yourself/and or your spouse
  • Proof of account for direct deposit of refund (e.g., voided check).
