Animal Cruelty, DUI, Other Crime Reported In Oswego: OPD, Sheriff

Crime incidents reported across Oswego from the Kendall County Sheriff's Office and the Oswego Police Department.

Wednesday, Jan. 30

Domestic Battery

The Kendall County Sheriff's Office said deputies responded to the 0-99 block of Sonora Drive at 11 p.m. Wednesday for a reported domestic battery. The sheriff's office said a 140year-old juvenile, who lived at the home, was charged with two counts of domestic battery and was referred to the juvenile court system.

Tuesday, Jan. 29

In-state warrant

The Kendall County Sheriff's Office reported 29-year-old Miriah Leann Martin, of the 500 block of Chestnut Drive, was charged with in-state warrant early Tuesday morning.

Monday, Jan. 28

Animal cruelty

The Kendall County Sheriff's Office reported 46-year-old Shaun James Manning, of the 100 block of Fox Chase Drive, was accused by authorities of animal cruelty on Monday. The sheriff's office said Pratt was charged with cruel treatment (animals).

Driving under the influence

The Kendall County Sheriff's Office said deputies responded to a report of a driver that had been forced off the roadway in the 0-99 block of Fernwood Road late Monday night, at 10:41 p.m. The sheriff's office said deputies were given a description of the vehicle involved and were able to locate it, in which the driver, 30-year old Fred Nicholas Miller, from the 0-99 block of Crofton Road, was found and accused of driving under the influence of alcohol, before being arrested and taken to the Kendall County Corrections Division. According to the sheriff's office, Miller was charged with DUI and released on bond.

Sunday, Jan. 27

Hit and run

The Oswego Police Department said they investigated a hit and run crash that was reported on Sunday and took place at an unknown date in the 2400 block of Route 31. According to police, an unknown red vehicle destroyed a mailbox and drove away. There were no injuries reported, but damage is estimated at over $100, according to police.

Accident with injuries

Oswego police reported 46-year-old Gloria Diaz, of Aurora, was driving an SUV at Route 30 and Fifth Street Friday when the SUV hit a van driven by 71-year-old Joseph Guinnane, of Montgomery. According to police. Diaz was taken to the hospital for minor injuries. There was also damage caused by the accident, police noted.

Saturday, Jan. 26

Possession of cannabis

Oswego police reported 18-year-old Julian J. Newell, of the 300 block of Ogden Falls Blvd., was arrested at 10:55 p.m. Saturday at Route 34 and Fifth Street, accused of cannabis possession. According to police, Newell was detained at OPD and charged with possession of cannabis (30 to 110 grams). He posted 10 percent of $1,500 bond and his court date is scheduled for Feb. 25, 2019, police said.

Driving while license suspended

The Kendall County Sheriff's Office said deputies responded to a vehicle stuck in the ditch at the intersection of Grove Road and Reservation Road at 8:27 p.m. Saturday. The sheriff's office said the driver, a 17-year-old female juvenile from the 4100 block of Diamond Court, Naperville, was accused of driving with a suspended license. She was cited for that and released, the sheriff's office said.

Driving under the influence

The Kendall County Sheriff's Office said deputies responded to a property damage accident at 9:22 p.m. Saturday in the area of Schlapp Road just south of Plainfield Road. The sheriff's office said upon investigation, the driver of the vehicle identified as 50-year-old Jill Elizabeth Hiller, of the 4200 block of Steam Mill Court, was accused of driving under the influence of alcohol and was arrested. According to the sheriff's office, Hiller was charged with DUI and also cited for driving too fast for conditions. She was taken to the Kendall County Jail.
