Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson and Roy Orbison might have passed into another world, but they will be alive and well at a benefit concert for graduate Marine Kyle Moser in May.
Billed as a Night of Stars and Stripes, the benefit is being organized by Oswego residents Angela Stirn and Ann Gutierrez and will feature tribute acts of Presley, Jackson, Orbison, Elton John, Rod Stewart, Richie Valens, Tom Jones and Tim McGraw. The Change of Heart Tribune Band is also scheduled to perform.
Stirn said the idea for the show, which is set for 7 p.m. Friday, May 18, at the Timber Creek Convention Center, came about because she and Gutierrez love tribute acts. In fact, Gutierrez’s 17-year-old son is an Elvis tribute artist himself.

“This is how our families spend the weekends, and we know a lot of people in the business,” she said. “We thought there couldn’t be a better way to organize a benefit for Kyle.”
Moser was badly injured in Afghanistan in November by an improvised explosive device. He lost both his legs and part of his right hand in the explosion. He has been in recovery at Walter Reed Medical Center in Maryland ever since, but did attend this year’s

Stirn said they are currently seeking sponsorships and donations for raffle prizes. The venue can hold as many as 900 people, and Stirn said ticket sales have been brisk.
“I’m so excited about it and I think this will be a huge event,” she said.

There are currently two other Moser fundraisers planned. The next is a . Bowling lanes are sold out, but $10 tickets for the pizza buffet will be available at the door. There is no entry fee to take part in the silent auction or raffles.
Another fundraiser is planned for 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at . The salon is offering $10 haircuts the entire day and all proceeds will be donated to Moser and his family.
