Beware Of Spoofed Phone Number Claiming To Be Oswego Police: OPD

Oswego police reminded locals that officers would never call to demand money or request payments in any form.

OSWEGO, IL — If you get a call from the Oswego Police Department asking for money, it's a scam, officials said.

Police said in a Facebook alert last week that they received reports that scammers were spoofing the Oswego Police Department's phone number and claiming to be employed by the agency. Scammers have mentioned Police Chief Jason Bastin as well.

"Please be aware, the Oswego Police Department will NEVER call to demand money or request payments in any form," officials wrote in the post.
