Body Pulled From Fox River IDed As Aurora Man: Oswego PD

The man was originally reported missing to the Aurora Police Department on Easter Sunday.

OSWEGO, IL — Oswego police identified Tuesday the man whose body was pulled out of the Fox River Monday evening after a bystander spotted "something unusual" in shallow water near Washington Street.

The man is 35-year-old Lorenzo Gayosso Morales, of Aurora. He was last seen on April 19 in unincorporated Kendall County and reported missing to the Aurora Police Department on April 20, according to a news release from Oswego police.

Officers were dispatched around 5:24 p.m. to the river near the 100 block of West Washington Street when detectives used a drone and located what appeared to be a body lying in the center of the river near an island about 100 feet southwest of the Washington Street Bridge.

Morales was pronounced dead at the scene. The Kendall County coroner conducted an autopsy Tuesday morning; however, the man's exact cause of death is pending further investigation, police said.

"It is unknown how the man ended up in the river," Oswego police spokesperson Cathy Nevara said in an update Tuesday afternoon.

Oswego police are investigating the death in collaboration with Aurora police and the Kendall County Sheriff's Office.
