Oswego High School grad finishes first college semester with perfect GPA
Ava Taviani, a 2024 graduate of Oswego High School and a second-year — as of publication — at Illinois State University finished her first semester making the dean's list with a 4.0 GPA. Ava has been working very hard and takes her academics very seriously. She is currently pursuing a degree in elementary education and seems to be following in her parents footsteps, who are also both educators in the Oswego School District. She is making her family very proud.

Oswego student earns SUNY Cortland Dean's List honors
Ryan Hinshaw, of Oswego, was among the 2,971 students named to the Dean's List at SUNY Cortland for the Fall 2024 semester. Hinshaw is studying Communication Studies.
The Dean's List is the highest ranking for undergraduate students in their respective academic areas of the university. Students must earn a minimum 3.3 grade point average for the semester to make the list.

Student from Oswego named to the dean's list at Tufts University
Shriyaa Srihari, Class of 2027 of Oswego, was named to the dean's list at Tufts University for the fall 2024 semester. Dean's list honors at Tufts University require a semester grade point average of 3.4 or greater.

UW-Whitewater student from Oswego serves as student teacher
Jarek Slavin from Oswego, IL, who is studying Physical Education at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, is representing the university as a student teacher during the spring 2025 semester.
Slavin, a student in UW-Whitewater's College of Education and Professional Studies, is serving as a student teacher in the Physical Education programs at Autumn Creek Elementary, Yorkville High School in the Yorkville D115 school district(s) through the end of the school year.
"Our students are highly sought after," said Fred Trotter, administrative director in UW-Whitewater's Office of Clinical Experiences. "School districts really appreciate the caliber of our graduates."

Aurora natives named to dean's list at Biola University
Approximately 1,700 students were named to the Biola University Dean's List in fall 2024. Biola students are placed on the dean's list to honor those with a GPA of 3.6 or higher while enrolled in 12 or more credits and whose cumulative GPA is at least 3.2.
The following local residents were named to the dean's list:
- Mihaela Baker of Aurora, IL (60502) majoring in Writing for Film & Television
- Katherin Lokshin of Aurora, IL (60504) majoring in Bible, Theology, and Ministry
