College Credits: Oswego Students Graduate With 2 Degrees

Area students from Oswego are doing amazing things at colleges and universities across the United States.

Oswego student works with International Paper in co-op

University of Alabama student Avery Stults of Oswego, IL, was participating in UA's Cooperative Education Program during the fall 2024 semester while working for International Paper.

In the Cooperative Education Program, students alternate periods of full-time study with periods of full-time employment. This program offers work related to the academic major or career interests of each student.

While in school, students carry regular course schedules. While on co-op, they work with professionals in their fields who supervise their training and work. At work, co-op students earn competitive salaries and may receive benefit packages in addition to valuable job experience. Participants maintain their full-time student status while at work and have priority registration status each semester through graduation.

Oswego student plays on University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's soccer team

Morgan Hoffman, a human performance major from Oswego, IL, and graduate of Oswego East High School, is a member of the 2024 University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's soccer team, which heads into its second season under the leadership of Dan Montanye. In his first campaign, the Warhawks finished sixth in the WIAC, reaching the conference playoffs for the 17th consecutive season.

On the field, the Warhawks return both points leaders from a season ago. Emily Thill (West Chicago, Ill./St. Francis), a two-time All-WIAC first team selection, and Gianna Zamborini (Louisville, Ken/duPont Manual), who finished her freshman season with five goals and four assists. Jordyn Czarapata (Muskego, Wis./Muskego) also returns on the offensive end, with one goal and three assists a season ago.

On the defensive end, Juliana Madonia (Schaumburg, Ill./James B. Conant), a 2022 All-WIAC First team selection and 2023 All-WIAC honorable mention, is joined by returners Anna Gunderson (Mukwonago, Wis.) and Margot Yelle (Geneva, Ill./Geneva Community).

Jude Dobrinska (Milwaukee, Wis./Ronald Reagan College Prep), who was named WIAC Co-Goalkeeper of the Year and Newcomer of the Year, returns in net. Dobrinska made 74 saves in her 16 games during the 2023 campaign.

University of Iowa 2024 spring semester dean's list honorees announced

More than 7,650 undergraduate students at the University of Iowa named to the dean's list for the 2024 spring semester.

Dean's list status was earned by 1,063 first-year undergraduates during the 2023 spring semester at Iowa, 1,752 second-year students, 2,041 third-year students, and 2,807 fourth-year students.

Oswego students earn two degrees from University of Iowa

More than 550 students who earned two degrees were among the more than 6,500 students at the University of Iowa who graduated from the UI at the end of the 2024 spring semester in May.
