New Oswego Grocery Store To Open 'As Soon As Possible': Village
Trustees approved the plans in February for the 5 acres of vacant land at the corner of Route 34 and Kendall Point Drive in Oswego.

OSWEGO, IL — The new grocery store at Route 34 and Kendall Point Drive in Oswego will open "as soon as possible," Oswego officials said.
Benderson Development, the Florida-based group helming the project, plans to complete construction and open the grocery store as soon as the end of the year, Oswego Communications Manager Lisset Padilla told Patch. Fencing was recently installed around the 12,500-square-foot site neighboring the Delta Sonic car wash and gas station, Shaw Local reported.
The mystery store has not yet been named. Oswego trustees approved Benderson Development's application on Feb. 19 for a grocery store, restaurant and bank on 5 acres of undeveloped land.

"No specific tenants have been named for the grocery space or the retail building in the plans, but we anticipate they will be letting us know soon," Padilla said.

Benderson Development plans to build a grocery store on the northeast corner of the site, while the 10,000 square foot "proposed retail/restaurant" would be on the western side. The space may be used for a restaurant, spanning 6,667 square feet, and a bank, of 3,333 square feet, Patch reported.
The developer has often been linked to constructing Trader Joe's, according to a report from WSPY News. The real estate company also works with Walgreens and local chains such as Publix and Fred Meyer, its portfolio shows.
