District 308 School Calendar 2019-20: 1st Day Of School, Vacation

OSWEGO, IL — The first day of school in District 308 is Aug. 14 — and whether you and the kids are looking forward to the new school year or are dreading the end of summer, you'll want to mark the date on your calendar ASAP. Community Unit School District 308 has released its 2019-2020 calendar.

The calendar includes important dates such as winter and spring vacations, religious holidays, federal holidays, early dismissals and parent-teacher conferences.

This is the full list of dates to know for this school year:

August:

• Aug. 12-13: Teacher institutes - no student attendance
• Aug. 14: Full-day attendance, K-12
• Aug. 19: First day attendance early childhood

September:

• Sept. 2: Labor Day - no school
• Sept. 20: Teacher institute day - no school

October:

• Oct. 14: Columbus Day: no school
• Oct. 18: 3.5-hour student attendance/school improvement day - no early childhood

November:

• Nov. 1: End of first trimeters (K-5)
• Nov. 7: 5-hour student attendance, parent/teacher conferences; no early childhood
• Nov. 8: No school EC-8 parent/teacher conferences, 5-hour student attendance HS
• Nov. 27-29: No school, Thanksgiving break

December:

• Dec. 20: 3.5-hour student attendance/school improvement day/end of first semester; no early childhood
• Dec. 23: Winter break starts

January:

• Jan. 6: Classes resume after winter break
• Jan. 27: 3.5-hour student attendance/school improvement day; no early childhood
• Jan. 20: Martin Luther King Jr's birthday - no school

February:

• Feb. 14: 3.5-hour student attendance/school improvement day/end of second trimester; no early childhood
• Feb. 17: Presidents' Day - no school

March:

• March 6: 3.5-hour student attendance/school improvement day; no early childhood
• March 17: Teacher institute day - no school/Election day
• March 18: Full-day student attendance, parent/teacher conferences (flex hours)
• March 19: Full-day student attendance, parent/teacher conferences (flex hours)
• March 23-30: Spring break
• March 31: Students return from spring break

April:

• April 10: No school
• April 13: No school

May:

• May 21: Last day of school, 3.5-hour attendance/school improvement day/end of third trimester (K-5); no early childhood/end of second semester (6-12)
