Oswego East sophomore, Lillyana Williams is recognized as this week's athlete of the week.

Throughout the past 14 years, Williams has put time and passion into dancing. Being committed to her teammates, she has high hopes of making their way to state for her second year in a row.

“She is always the first to cheer on her teammates, offering encouragement and support during practice and competitions. Whether she is performing or in the stands,” Raber said. “Lilly’s enthusiasm is contagious, and she has a unique ability to lift the spirits of everyone around her.”

With her passion for dance, she enjoys spending her time with her teammates and sharing their good energy. The team has a close bond and they continue to grow with each other every day.

“Before every competition, we all sit in a circle holding hands with the speaker in the middle, and we will listen to our comp song. We all get to feel each other's energy, and feel all the excitement before we hit that gym floor!” Williams said.

Not only do her coaches recognize her determination, but her parents, Erin and John Williams, also notice her work ethic inside and outside of school. Her parents feel like dance has been a learning opportunity about motivation that connects to her school work.

“Being a student at OE has taught her the value of hard work and reinforced the importance of community” Erin and John Williams said.

Her determination in school is sure to give her a bright future in her plans to become a physical therapist. Through her time as a dancer, she has gone to physical therapy to overcome injuries and has learned the importance of this profession, inspiring her to do the same in the future.

“She saw the love and care she received getting back to dance and wants to be able to give that to others.” Erin and John Williams said.

Her parents and coaches are extremely proud of Lillyana and can’t wait to see what her future holds inside and outside of dance.

“Lilly Williams exemplifies the core values of E.A.S.T., and her positive impact both on and off the dance floor makes her a deserving nominee for Athlete of the Week” Raber said.
