East Student Athlete of the Week: Ryenne Sinta
Senior, Ryenne Sinta, is this week's East Athlete of the Week for the Girl's Softball Team.

Senior Ryenne Sinta has been named Athlete of the Week for her leadership on and off the softball field, embodying East’s core values of excellence, academics, spirit and tradition.
Sinta has played softball since she was six years old and has been playing on the East team for the past four years. Sinta started as a Freshman on JV and went on to play Varsity for the next 3 years. Ryenne’s father, Chris Sinta, has recognized the many experiences she’s had during her softball career and how they’ve shaped her character.
“Ryenne has had many experiences both good and bad, over the past 12 years of playing softball. Learning how to be mentally strong while competing through the ups and downs of a softball season,” her father said. “She wants to take those learnings and provide a challenging, competitive, safe space for other young student athletes.”

Her parents have also seen the impact East’s softball community has had on their daughter. Head Varsity Coach Sarah Davies has been a strong mentor for Sinta in both softball and in building her future.
“Ryenne’s mentorship with Coach Davies specifically has helped her shape the values and type of leadership that she wants to build on as a mentor when she has her own team and program,” her parents said.

Coach Davies has watched Sinta grow over her career at East and is proud of the strong athlete, leader, and young woman she has seen Ryenne become.
“She has been our starting catcher the last two seasons, and is a power hitter in the lineup. She is an incredibly strong athlete, continues to bat at the top of the line-up, and hit the ball hard,” Davies said.
Ryenne plans to study secondary education at the University of Kansas this fall, with aspirations of teaching and coaching at the high school level.
“Coach Davies, my sociology teacher and coach, has inspired me to become a teacher because she’s shown me what it’s like to be a really good person, but also a teacher,” Sinta said.
Both her teachers and parents have seen her grow into a leader within the East community and recognize how she will use those skills to impact others.
“Ryenne has passed down the traditions of our program, she upholds the hard work and excellence I expect, and she is a wonderful role model for the younger athletes and future Wolves,” Davies said.
Even now, Sinta’s impact on her community is clear. After losing her brother to a battle with cancer two years ago, Sinta and her family wanted to raise awareness within their community. So they came together to found a fundraiser that started in the softball community and now has spread to the East baseball community as well.
“We as a family really wanted to give back to people who have lost somebody to cancer, because everybody goes through it in some sort of way,” Sinta said. “My Dad really took a big step forward and created the entire thing and found two great organizations to donate to.”
Their fundraiser, Strikeout For Cancer, has been extremely successful and will continue to be a great way to raise awareness and bring the community together in future years.
There’s no doubt that Sinta will continue to leave a positive impact on all the people and communities she touches in the future. Ryenne has a strength and positivity that has helped her battle adversity and will help her to strive in her future.
“Ryenne has overcome the loss of her brother, having watched his battle with cancer and taken that mental strength and turned it into a passion for hard work, passion for the game, embracing her teammates, and providing leadership both on the field and off the field,” Her father said.
