Four Months After Flood, 111th Street Reopens
Township officials spent several months waiting for ComEd to complete utility work so road repairs could begin.

On April 18, heavy rain caused flooding, damaging homes and closing roads — including 111th Street.
The Wheatland Township road was closed from 248th Avenue to Route 30 after flooding caused the culvert beneath the road to collapse, creating a sinkhole.
The road finally opened late Friday afternoon after being closed for nearly four months.
“I’m extremely happy for all the residents and merchants and commerce,” Wheatland highway commissioner Mark Troyanowski said.
The township hired contractor PT Ferro to repair the road, but the work was delayed as officials waited for ComEd to complete utility work at the site.
ComEd finally completed their work last week, allowing construction crews to begin work on the road repairs.
Troyanowski said he is “ecstatic” that the road is finally open.
