Head-On Crash In Oswego Sends 2 To Hospital: Police

One driver suffered from a head injury, and the other injured her hand in the crash, Oswego police said.

OSWEGO, IL — Two people were hospitalized June 27 after a head-on collision at the intersection of Route 71 and Douglas Street in Oswego, police reported.

A Kia Rio and Nissan Sentra crashed at about 11:22 p.m., leading to the Kia driver, a 39-year-old from Oswego, being cited with driving under the influence and failure to yield, according to a Monday morning blotter.

The Kia was driving southeast on Route 71 when the driver attempted to make a left turn in front of the Nissan, which was headed northwest on Route 71, spokesperson Cathy Nevara told Patch.

Both drivers were hospitalized at Rush Copley Medical Center, with the Kia driver suffering a head injury and the Nissan driver, a 27-year-old woman, a hand injury, police said.

After the Oswego man was released from the hospital, he was taken to police headquarters, booked and released with a notice to appear.
