Homestead Students Get More Good News on Haiti Efforts
School being built in one of the world's poorest countries with local funds.

It's more than anyone could have expected.
This year, students at Homestead Elementary School in Aurora set about to raise in Haiti after a deadly earthquake destroyed huge parts of the country in January 2010. Well, the students met that goal last month and got even more good news last week.
Feed the Children, the international relief group the students' efforts were coordinated through, informed the school that because of their work an extra $5,000 would be donated in the name of Homestead through a matching donation from Club Penguin.

"Your school has been awarded $5,000 to be added to your total donation this year for Haiti. You and your group have done an absolutely incredible job and I couldn’t be prouder," wrote Christina Ho, senior youth programming Coordinator for Free The Children in an e-mail to fifth-grade teacher Tiffany Francis. Thank you again for the incredible leadership you have shown and your efforts will truly mean such a huge deal for our friends overseas."
Francis delivered the news to students Thursday just as school was letting out.

"Isn't this awesome news?" Francis asked the students as they erupted into cheers in the school's gym. "You guys did such an amazing job."
