Kendall Co. Reopening: No COVID-19 Positivity Increase In 10 Days

As per the Illinois Department of Public Health website, Region 2 now has a positivity rate of 5.6 percent.

KENDALL COUNTY, IL — For the first time since July, Illinois' North Central region is showing a steady decline in its coronavirus positivity and currently has zero consecutive days of positivity increase as of Monday, according to public health data.

As per the Illinois Department of Public Health website, Region 2 now has a positivity rate of 5.6 percent.

Some weeks ago, Gov. J.B. Pritzker had issued a set of new restrictions in Region 7 — the Will-Kankakee region — triggered by regional coronavirus mitigation metrics, and as state public health officials announced the week before that the county had reached a COVID-19 "warning level." Region 2 could have seen the same mitigations if the numbers kept increasing.

As of Monday, Region 2 has 39 percent surgical beds and 41 percent ICU beds still available. If these fall below 20 percent, the region will be at a warning level for this metric. However, the 7-day rolling hospital admission for COVID-19-like illness has increased over 3 consecutive days.

According to IDPH, as of Wednesday, the region has utilized 54 percent of its total ICU capacity and 20 percent of its ventilator capacity. This means, there are still 296 ventilators and 126 fully-staffed ICU beds still available.
