Kendall Co. Reports New COVID-19 Death As Cases Surpass 1,700

As of Thursday, there are 1,741 COVID-19 cases in Kendall County with 1,186 in recovery.

KENDALL COUNTY, IL — A new coronavirus-related death has been reported after a month in Kendall County, according to public health data. The Kendall County Health Department said in a release Thursday that a man in his 50s died of the virus, bringing the total number of deaths in the county to 26.

"We wish peace and comfort for his family during this difficult time," health officials said in the release. County health officials did not mention whether the man had additional health complexities.

The last death was reported by county health officials on Aug. 4, of a man in his 70s "that suffered from additional health complexities." As of Thursday, there are 1,741 COVID-19 cases in Kendall County with 1,186 in recovery.

The highest number of positive cases of the coronavirus in Kendall County can be found among people between the age of 20-29, followed by those in the 40-49 age range, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health. Women account for 53 percent of COVID-19 cases in the county, while men account for 47 percent. More than half of the residents who have COVID-19 either live in Oswego, Plano or Oswego Township, data shows.

Eighty-four percent of all cases in Kendall County do not have any additional health complexities associated with them, according to county health data.

Coronavirus positivity rates in Illinois' North Central region — of which Kendall County is a part — has increased once again, according to public health data. As of Thursday, the region has a positivity rate of 7 percent, which is an increase over Monday's 6.8 percent.
